Today Council member Thomas, civic leaders, anc commissioners and residents held a rally against the closing of the Safeway store on Rhode Island ave. At the rally several things were made clear.

1. Safeway is needed in the community because of its accessibility and prices.
2. If Safeway chooses to stay the would have to upgrade the store to the level of other stores.
3. If Safeway chooses not to stay the community will bring in a store that will benefit the community as a hole.

Several other meetings are planned in regards to this issue a long with regular rallies on Mondays @ 5pm in the Safeway parking lot.
