Friends Of Rhode Island Ave Meeting 1/23/12

Dear Friends of Rhode Island Avenue,
As we mentioned in our year end wrap-up, we are hosting a planning meeting on January 23 from 7:30 – 9:00 pm at Art Enables. We would love to meet with you, discuss what has already been done, and most importantly, lay out what needs to be done in 2012. We know you have lots of good ideas and we want to move forward in 2012 with solid, tangible action-items based on community input.

Pedestrian Bridge for Rhode Island Metro

The issue of the long promised pedestrian bridge to Rhode Island Metro station has been brought up several times in the debate over what could have helped save the now closed Safeway. Well it seems like the wait is finally over. 

 
 WASHINGTON - Metro riders who want to walk or bike to the Rhode Island Avenue station will soon have an easier time of it.

Rhode Island Station Development to Break Ground Soon

A big piece of the Rhode Island Avenue redevelopment is set to break grounds within 90 days.  This will hopefully play a big role in getting a new grocer in at 4th and Rhode Island.

The District plans to finalize financing for Rhode Island Station, a transit-oriented mixed-use development near the Rhode Island Avenue Metro station, with A&R Development Corp. and Urban Atlantic, Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development Valerie Santos told a D.C. Council committee Tuesday.
