In case anyone missed it ANC5C voted to *not* support Big Bears liquor license at this time. The vote was based on a resolution created by neighbors to the Big Bear cafe. The Residents in opposition created a resolution that outlined why they deemed it inappropriate for BBC to serve liquor. The resolution spoke to Big Bears illegal operation of a curbside cafe, their violation of zoning laws and events held at the cafe that served liquor without permits. Although the agenda was not sent out to the community in accordance with article 8, section 6 of ANC5C bylaws the commission will convene on Monday. Brian Brown the developer of the firehouse on North Capitol street will give a presentation on his plans for the building which are to include a banquette hall, restaurant and lounge. Over the last couple of months there has been a ongoing debate on Liquor Licenses within ANC5C. A lot of the debate stems from the restaurant liquor license application from local coffee shop Big Bear Cafe in Bloomingdale DC.
