Edgewood Civic President Run's for the Gold

Michael "Mike" Clark President of the Edgewood Civic Association recently competed in the 2009 DC Golden Olympics, he participated in three events and in all, he placed first.He placed 1st in two 400 meter dash events and the men's 200 meter dash. Running has been a passion of the president since he was very young and even his recently broken knee cap hasn't stoped him, and thats the same attitude he carries in his official duties as president. Youths Protest D.C. Funding Cuts

Peaceoholics co-founder Ron Moten led hundreds of youths in a protest in front of the John A. Wilson Building Wednesday afternoon to bring attention to the D.C. Council's cuts in funding to nonprofits. The council eliminated earmarks when re-working the budget.

Moten wore overalls and bandages covered with fake blood. "They need to know what happens in the community," said Moten, referring to Peaceoholics' work stemming violence among youths.

Voucher advocates face up to police

School-voucher proponents confronted police Tuesday morning outside the U.S. Department of Education, where the protesters demanded that federal officials restore scholarships taken away from 216 D.C. students.
