Dear Friends of Rhode Island Avenue,
As we mentioned in our year end wrap-up, we are hosting a planning meeting on January 23 from 7:30 – 9:00 pm at Art Enables. We would love to meet with you, discuss what has already been done, and most importantly, lay out what needs to be done in 2012. We know you have lots of good ideas and we want to move forward in 2012 with solid, tangible action-items based on community input.

EYA Homes Seeks DC Ward 5 High School Seniors for $8,000 College Scholarships

EYA today announces its 2012 college scholarship contest for District of Columbia public high school seniors living in Ward 5. This June the company will award a $2,000 annual scholarship to up to two students based on an evaluation of short essays and recommendations.

Interested students are encouraged to submit an application as soon as possible. To qualify, a student must:

  • Be a senior at a DC Public High School
  • Reside in Ward 5
  • Have accepted admission to either a 2-year or 4-year college ...

Ward 5 Council on Education Meeting 1/17/12

The Ward Five Council on Education will hold its regular meeting on *Tuesday,
January 17th at Lamond-Riggs Library (5401 South Dakota Ave, NE) from
6:30PM - 8PM*. *(Please note that this month we will meet in the upstairs
